Mono cam question?

Hi folks:

I shall be trying out a new mono cam and filters soon, and am wondering if aside from the color filters I would also need an ir cut filter on the nosepiece or is that just for color cams?

Which camera? Which filters?

Some of the filter sets already "include" IR blocking (for resonance transmissions...)

The L filter will probably be a UV-IR filter....

I assume for Lunar and Planetary imaging....

The filter set seems to block above 700nm so should be OK.

I use an IDAS P2 filter as LUM, the effect of LP is very evident on LUM images. Good sets of RGB filters, Astronomik Type iic and Baader are already IR blocked and more importantly they are parfocal to each other so you do not need to refocus between filter changes so long as your scope is well corrected for the 3 wavelengths, EDs are not corrected for this BTW, the blue is always out. They also sort of miss out the wavelengths that are the mostly causes of LP effect on the captures, so it is better to pay the extra and get a decent set of filters  even though they can be quite pricy.

he won't be using that camera for DSO work....only suitable for lunar and planetary....
