Dynamic sun over three weekends

I have only recently started sketching the sun and it's amazing how it changes so rapidly. These three basic sketches are each a week apart and completely different. They cover 1/2, 8/2 and 16/2 in 2014.

Sketching the sun is very rewarding and easy too. these all took about 10 mins each

"Sketching the sun is very rewarding and easy too. these all took about 10 mins each" you never seen me trying to draw

very nice sketches, our closest star has been very interesting so far this year. i like the idea of the sketches, they feel a little more "hands on" than imaging for some reason i can not explain!

They are really superb.  Don't think I have the skill or the patience to do anything even remotely as good, I take my hat off to you.

Taking the easy way out and using a ccd to 'sketch' the sun.

My parents were art teachers and insisted that only when you draw something do you really look at it.

I think this is right Olly, it certainly concentrates the mind and you seem to strain a little more for that bit of extra detail. I should add it's a lot easier in daylight that at night with a dim torch. I use the thumb on / thumb off approach when sketching with a torch at night.
