allen key size

i have recently found i have to collimate my skywatcher heritage 130p scope...got my collimation laser...i just need to find out the size of the allen key i need..its very small..i am thinking 2mm? more? if any one could be kind enough to let me know about such a simple little problem i will be most gratefull thank you.

I'm sure someone will soon tell you the size, but for the price of a set of allen keys they are always very useful to have.

make sure you place the laser on something, so that you can rotate the laser? By checking this, you will save yourself some hassle later. You need to be able to hold the laser tube in something  'V' shaped, to allow some rotation. Switch the Laser on and shine the beam onto a piece of paper stuck to the wall at about 10-18 feet away. As you rotate the Laser, the dot should stay stationary to a single point on the wall. If it draws anything else, the laser needs to be calibrated first.

If it needs calibration, the adjusters are normally hidden under 3 silicon inserts, which have to be removed to allow adjustment. This will probably affect a warranty!

I'm pretty sure they're 2mm - but as Paul says, no home should be without a set of Allen keys...

Off top of my head I think it is 2mm. As said. no home should be without a set, they are handy for so many things   . As a point of note though if you have a sight tube and combination tool. I use that for the secondary and double check it against the laser. You may want to be aware  of some of the pitfalls of single beam laser collimation  and how you can end up getting it wrong.

That video series is invaluable. The tip about putting coloured card opposite the focuser and masking the secondary is absolutely critical. I thought my collimation was fine until I did the masking, but that showed my shiny new MoonLite focuser was not at all square.

Definitely 2mm. I know because it's the only one missing from two sets!!
