Hi guys, i just came across this real good and very easy guide to how to make your own planisphere

Thats great! My kids have been wanting to get hold of one, but I'm sure they'll much prefer making their own (and save some more pennies!), plus a few guys at work may be interested as well.

yes i thought the same Twiggles its excellent, i printed mine and put it together all in less then 5 mins, even better if the kids can get stuck in too

   A nice project indeed but for those who want a more "instant" version, you can print out monthly charts at the below link for free. Plus you get naked eye, binocular and telescopic objects to observe each month. I have a set for the whole year and take each month's chart (in a plastic sheet protector) out with me at each observing session. And the map you select will cover the northern, central and southern hemisphere. Though each map's current object (planetary objects)data does change from year to year, the maps are still accurate as a constellation finder - even for light polluted skies.

Excellent and uuber easy way to make one. My only use for one these days is as a wall decoration to remind me of my humble start in astronomy.
