Have we got the wrong lens??

Recommended Posts

Hello.

We are trying our new Skywatcher 200p Dob tonight for the first time. We cannot seem to fit the 2x Barlow lens piece to it though. Let me point out that we are complete novices, but thought we would ask whether we either have bought the wrong lens or do we need an attachment? If neither of those two situations, then please tell us what we are doing wrong.

Thanks in advance.

The 200p has a dual fit focuser to accommodate both 1.25" & 2" EPs. As standard, the 1.25" focus tube is fitted into the 2" holder out ofthe box so you have to remove this to use any of your 2" EPs, including the Barlow.

Brilliant thanks for that, we did think we may be able to remove a piece, but was a bit worried to pull it a part. Thanks for confirming this to us.

The rain came and stopped us in our tracks before we managed to sort it but on a lighter note we managed to tune the view finder in on the moon with a standard 10mm lens then swiped it round to look at a random star and got Jupiter and it's four moons. Can't tell you how happy we were about this. Especially when we were only out for 10 mins and this was the first time!

you've got your self a great scope there.  getting used to "nudging" can take a little patience ,particularly at higher powers.  its such a simple but effective tool youll love it.

wait to you get a look at the big globulars through it , itll blow your socks off.

enjoy and clear skies .
