Probably not the correct section to post, but all the solar observers are here....

Maier Photonics ( with some help from Dave over on the Solar Chat site ;-) ) have developed a replacement ITF which fits the existing holder in the PST eyepiece holder.

If you have a "blue" objective PST with a failed "mini-erf" this could be the solution for you.

Check it out.

Thanks - an interesting find and could be really useful. I've noticed on my PST that although the mini-erf looks fine and hasn't degraded at all it does seem to have some pin-holes in the coating. If I shine a bright LED bike through the ERF I can see the pin-holes. Maybe 6 or 7 tiny holes. Views are lovely still but I'm concerned about light leakage and damage to the blocking filter. I might invest in one of these.

Whooow - that's an old thread resurrected.

Maier have successfully been supplying replacement ITF filter elements for the past few years. These are drop-in replacements for the PST and Coronado BF diagonals.

Highly recommended.
