California Halpha DSLR.

A little experiment using Halpha filter for the first time. I have my one thoughts but will be happy hearing your.

WO FLT 98, WO FF/R IV 0.8x, Canon 1000d mod, EQ6Pro, Astronomik Halpha 12nm

37x600sek, iso 1600, fl 500, f5.

Nice picture! Have you thought about adding colour and more definition to the image with normal shots without the filter and your 1000D?

I have a 1000D which I have converted to mono as well as a 6nm h a 2'' filter. Your excellent photo is giving me some encouragement to have a go!

Looks good to me. Reckon it would look good with some RGB data. I assume its the clip filter you have? Just out of interest did you have any difficulties finding and focussing on a star with such a dark filter on?

Yes. I have used eos clip filter. This is a real challenge to focus and framing with this quite dark filter. Definitely need some experience. I'm waiting for clear skies to get some rgb data.

Interesting. So how did you manage focus in the end? did you use a mask or did you use APT? Although i would imagine APT would struggle with a HA filter.

That image looks quite nice. Love to see the result as  HaRGB or (R+Ha)GB as well. I've only done Ha imaging in 16" scopes with autofucus but even then you can't always on a star in the image FoV. Have you tried focusing using a really bright (mag 0,1,2...) star before moving to the DSO?

Yesterdey had a clear skies for three hours. Got some rgb data. 8hours togheter. This is my first attempt with HRGB..
