Optus 20-60x60mm scope @ £9.99

Called into Aldi today and picked up a 60mm Optus spotting scope with zoom EP for a half-price steal of £9.99 !  Had a quick peek in store but pot luck with sealed boxed sample from crate and at home it appears fine with nice sharp image with little or no colour eg chromatic aberration so I'm happy. 

Bought my first identical Optus 3-1/2yrs ago for £19.99 [vids below] and suspect [need a side by side test] this new one is sharper !  Remember for £9.99 it may not match Leitz or Nikon optics

Tripod looks identical to that of the Carson (& other brands) MTEL-50, which has reasonably good eyepieces and which (apart from the useless Barlow) is surprisingly good.

So I take it that it could be mounted onto a standard photo tripod? Or do you need any accessories to allow it to do so?

Almost tempted on a punt on one for a tenner!

Assuming that tripod is identical to the one I've seen, it has a standard 1/4" 20tpi photographic thread, so Yes.

I read a post where a member flocked his and fitted a barlow bottom instead so could change eyepeices

Haven't had any decent skies recently so mounted Optus scope on my Classic 30cm Meade LX200 [below] as a finder - LX200 currently has SX Lodestar-C cam at prime focus behind f/3.3 FR running @ f/2.8
