Deep sky on Skye.

Week one , so far 3 Moonless hours under a pristine sky miles from anywhere at all. As the sky darkened Vega showed the way to Deneb and a wide torn tortuous Milky Way through Cygnus and from both horizons. Through Perseus it was most brightly illuminated. The great rifts through Cygnus were dark by eye, clusters , galaxies and nebulae shone by eye.

A kindly lent Lumicon deep sky filter showed the fine bright filaments of the Veil, a brilliant puffy glowing Dumbbell at x240 and the tall brilliant wide oval of M57.

The nebulosity of the beautiful NGC 281 was packing the field of view at x200. The clusters both open and globular just sparkled against the black background. M13 was magnificent with the 82 degree view of the SW 15mm ep.

The wobbly Moon appeared over a nearby hill and cloudy clag started in from the west. I'm pleased to have taken up the 10" Lightbridge and now waiting for the rest of the week and next week,

Old Nick.
