next lens purchase

i have decided to concentrate a bit on widefield so my next purchase is going to be a nice lens. budget around £200-300 pounds. it will be on my canon450D it will solely be for astro work aswell

I dont think the 50 really is widefield especially on a crop sensor, might be worth looking at a 35mm

Yep ... Definitely go wider. 50 mm x 1.6 is more like a short portrait length .

What sort of shots are you after ?

I still find the fifty on a crop sensor gives a useful FOV for most constellations...

Also look for a fast lens .. it will cut trailing as exposure time can be shorter !
