mak or reflector please help me decide?

Recommended Posts

Hi I am having trouble deciding between a 130mm newtonian or a 127 Mak (skywatcher brands of both) I particularly have in mind observing planets and bright DSOs but also using my neximage camera on Saturn and Jupiter. Please help me choose. The OTA will be put onto a SLT/skyprodigy mount currently occupied by a 70mm f10 refractor.

If you want to image Saturn and Jupiter, then the mak will be the way to go. The reflector has a shorter focal length and hence will give wider fields of view. However the mak can also be used for DSOs by using a long focal length EP, as stated above.
