Super Moon 23-6-13

Recommended Posts

Answering my own question, there are seven Blue Moon events every nineteen years, so there's a 1 in 33 chance that any given Full Moon is blue. There is one "Supermoon" every fourteen Full Moons, so a 1 in 14 chance. The chances of a Blue Supermoon are therefore about 1 in 462 which means there would be one every thirty-seven years (just over), so perhaps a twice-in-a-lifetime event.

I admit here and now that I was awful at probability theory. For reasons I've never understood I just couldn't get my head around it. This may therefore be completely wrong :)

James, Am I right in thinking that a blue moon is the second full moon in a calender month?....(wouldn't have a clue about your probability ability but it sounds sound to me) say that drunk ;)
