If the universe is expanding then if you go back in time it must get smaller and smaller to a single point,

and what ever happened at that single point the big bang or whatever must be able to happen again so perhaps there are multi universes. If something can happen once then it must be able to happen all the time,

Why must it get smaller to a single point? Why not several points, or a plane? Suppose that all the matter and energy of the universe was here in unrealized potential, and some random event brought the potential into fruition? Would it look much different from what it does now, after 14 billion years of expansion?

The possibility that it happens more than once is part of the theory.
