Pannstars - Naked Eye

Recommended Posts

I observed Panstarrs a few days ago and was suitably impressed. Today was a glorious day. Cut the grass for the first time this year :) as the sun set I took the 10x50s out and found It again. Called my wife to look and as Linda looked through the binocs I realised I could see it naked eye, definitely. It was at about 5-7* above horizon. Quite distinctly. Saw it a few times to confirm and Linda also. Has anyone else seen this naked eye?

Once I had a good location for it with Binos, I could just discern it with the N/E last night. I actually found the clouds a help

as I could use some of the nobbly outcrops of cloud as position pointers for the 30 odd minutes of viewing. It also made it

stand out next to the darkness of the clouds.

Looks like bad weather here for a few days (rain all day today) so by the time we get some clear sky again it will probably be up

in the darker sky and visible from my home.
