Beginner Astronomer Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 Sorry if this has been asked but I was wondering what nebulas could a beginner see with an 8" dob.i have tried the Crab Nebula and andromeda galaxy but cannot see them. andyman Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 i bet it made your eyes water being serious crab nebula is not easy to see at best of times especially from light polluted skies but with 8 inch of aperture you should see most nebulas and galaxies but try to view with no moon present Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
swamp thing Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 As above, bright moon isn't the best time to be hunting for nebulae.The crab and the Andromeda nebula aren't so easy when the moon is bright.
