My first shots of the moon well first shots of anything really. Just got a dslr Sony a37 what do you all think of my first shot how can I do better.

any help would be great please.

its not just my first dslr it's my first ever camera too.

I would have been happy if this was my first try, you did well getting detail a lot of pictures taken of the moon are just white blobs

My scope is 200p sw

I didn't edit this at all what editing software could I use to make it sharper.

Did try registax by it made my PC crash !!! So need to look into that a bit more

I tried my first Registax effort of the moon last night. I think it helps if you take a lot of jpegs and process them in Registax, rather than single shots.

Both images look very good.

Chris has just released a new version of AstroPIPP which can handle all sorts of RAW image formats apparently, so you may not even need to use JPEG images any more when you're not using a Canon camera. PIPP will take the RAW files and turn them into TIFFs which Registax will handle and you should get a better result than from JPEGs.
