near miss asteroid

Anyone having a go at this...and how are you going about it...scope...mount...ect

If the skies clear I'll be using a pair of binoculars in the hope of seeing something but the weather isn't looking good enough here.

I was hoping that I'll be able to find a telescope tracking it online somewhere. Maybe someone will be kind enough to post a link?

Having just googled for a link I came up with http://www.virtualtelescope.eu/2012/08/21/asteroid-2012-da14-a-record-close-approach/ but you need to join up before the event.

Has anyone had any experience using this site (good or bad) or have another to recommend?

I just realised that you don't have to register for anything - you just go to the web page! D'oh!

Of course, no-one would have realised that I was an idiot if I had been able to edit my original post... maybe thats why you can only start editing posts after you make (however many it is... 50? 100? I can't remember but I'm sure I read something about it earlier)

Metcheck states fog or mist for my area, I suppose it's better than clouds

If this is anything to go by Stu it's not going to be hanging around http://binocularsky.com/binoc_transient.php having covered a fair old patch of sky before loosing the suns luminance

Forecast on 7timer is showing some clear skies for me so it's looking promising at the moment

If it happens to be clear, I might try to locate it with bins. Then move onto the finder scope, then visual in the eyepiece.

After that I might try to quickly hook up the video camera and attempt to manually track it for a while whilst capturing an AVI. That`s the plan anyway.
