Hyperion Zoom Camera Connection

Recommended Posts

I'm thinking of getting the Hyperion Zoom with barlow for my 30th in March as I've only got stock lenses and a couple of plossls and I've heard a lot of good things about the zoom.

One question I have, though is how I go about connecting a camera to the eyepiece (which is apparently possible)? Do I need any extra bits? I've already got a T-ring for my camera, which I use with a T-adapter for prime focus stuff. Will this be enough?

For standard hyperions, there's an adapter that's used to connect a t-ring to one of the threaded collars that's concealed under a rubberised cover on the barrel. From http://www.firstlightoptics.com/baader-planetarium/baader-hyperion-zoom-eyepiece.html, it looks like there's a comparable component for the zoom... to the bottom right of the picture (frequently bought with this product)

The standard connector is a 43mm ring screws into the EP at the end you look through, this then screws in to the camera T-Ring, i dunno if the Zoom has the 43mm thread but the ring to buy is cheapish and when you get the Imaging bug will fit on a few other Brands Pentax XW's for one.....

Ok on the FLO site they list the 43mm Adapter but say the Zoom lens requires a this Adapter....
