That's ridiculous! You can buy M8 (I think they're M8 maybe M10) in stainless for a few pounds http://www.boltmeup.com/m8-63-c.asp Or "machine bolts" like these: http://www.arceurotrade.co.uk/Catalogue/Machine-Spares/Machine-Handles M8 are down the page a bit. Someone recently posted an "astro" supplier who charged around £25 for a pair, longer than the originals and with plastic knobs on - sorry I can't find the link!!

Youbonly really need the altitude bolts which are £25 from astro developments. Bear in mind if you go a different route that the end of the bolt needs to be machined or filied to a round shape otherwise the edge of the bolt will start ripping the tongue on the mount to bits.

Its always xheaper to do it yourself but afte I took a longish car drive to get some super qualty bolts that didnt end up fitting and then your faced with sourcimg the handles, aralditing them to the bolts and machining the ends round I just couldnt be bothered and just stumped up for the astro developments ones.

As ever you pays yer money and takes yer choice.

Hopefully I'll be taking delivery of my HEQ5 tomorrow and want to say thanks to all the advice on here, I've ordered a set of replacement bolts from astrodevelopments too. (Not sure I hold off setting up the mount to have a play until they arrive though!)

If you use allen screws then all you need is an allen key.All for a couple of quid
