Can't upload AVI?

I'm trying to upload my first animation (17.83mb AVI) but it is saying I am not permitted to upload this type of file???

The avi was produced using PIPP and is less than the maximum 20mb allowed, so I'm a bit confused.....

Any help would be great.

ps - how can I convert this file to make it suitable to email?

What is the problem exactly? How is YouTube stretching the video?

I've managed to get it on YT after converting it to a divx format. I'm such a technophobe...I really do have no idea!!!

OK, I can't assist with the message about permission to upload the AVi I'm afraid (its a new one on me).

However, you can download the free software called 'Freemake' which is a video converter and can turn all the popular formats into anything (AVi to MPEG and so on). It can also resize and/or alter the quality of the conversion so it will make file sizes smaller. This should help.
