Jupiter 100ED 28-11-2012 Various sizes and stacks.

Last night was wonderful after a break of 2 years I really enjoyed looking at Jupiter and the Moon. It was so crisp I felt like I was in space with them looking through the eye piece. I tried stacking a 3x Tele and 2.5 barlow with surprising results for a 4inch scope. All images are just stacks with wavelets applied which, I found on the web, which worked nicely. Some stacks are only 1-200 and others are 1000. I have no idea if I can get any detail out of these but since these are my 2nd attempt I'm really chuffed just seeing the GRS, moon shadow and some bands. Can anybody give me processing tips so I can see if I can get more out of the data?

This hobby is ruthless, clouds are in tonight so I will have to wait another month to try and practice :-)

Happy hunting,

PS How do I post pictures with the thumbnail?

Nice bunch there! Well done, very lovely colors.

As for improving, the more images in your final stack the better! (1000) I also found that running AVIs in AutoStakkert2, then processing the TIF produced through the wavelets in Registax did improve a lot the sharpness of my images! You might want to try it? It's free too
