Canon 10D or similar

Would a Canon 10d be ok for ap?

It shall be mounted directly onto a 200pds which shall be guided.

Also can it be used with backyardeos?

Also open to recomendations for any other model, body only for less than £100.

I have a Nikon D90 but want to use that for street photography and dont like removing the lens too much.

The 10D is probably the best camera available for under £100 ( I use 2 for general photography) but will not work with BackyardEos as it has a Digic 1 processor. The 20D which can be had for about £150.00 uses the Digic ii processor so can be used.

The earlier EOS DSLRs are also quite heavy due to excellent build quality. For astro use general grade models like the 350, 400, 450 may be better suited as they are lighter but you would have to up your budget.

Cheers Paul, I dont know much about canons as you can probably tell. Might just get a 350 as that was my original plan.

You should be able to pick up a second-hand Canon EOS 300D for your budget and if you want to see what can be done with get the book 'Make every photon count' where it was used for many of the images.

the 10D and 300D are identical inside (you can flash the 300d to get a 10D) but the digit processer does not work with anything hence why im going up upgrade. on ebay you can get a 400 - 600d for around 2 - 300 second hand

depending on price the 10D is fine, I got a 550 for £300 a good camera for AP and everyday use , check out ebay

Well I got a 350d of fleabay and went to d/l backyardeos. I got a nice wee email with a link in it and a ty and welcome and that it works well with the 350d. Unless your using win7. Guess what I'm using, win7.

If you can install Win7 Pro then you can download xp mode virtual machine for free. I have to run my Canon 10D in tethered mode through xp mode as the USB drivers are only available on XP and Vista
