Mars and an encounter, October 5th 2007

Hi all,

Here's my first shot of Mars from the morning of the 5th October. Reasonable seeing and decent transparency even though this was taken earlier than usual to catch Syrtis Major.

As I was observing, I noticed the proximity of Mars to M35 in Gemini so that's in the picture too...

Belting stuff Pete, absolutely top notch.

It also explains why my goto couldn't find M31! They've moved it to Gemini for it's holidays. (Or is that a typo that crept in there?)

Well spotted Kaptain. I did notice it just after I'd sent the image to SpaceWeather and now it's being displayed there too - doh! I've corrected the error on the server file though so it shouldn't appear anymore.

Hi Pete...excellent again. It's great to see Mars popping up all over the place.
