This is a good approach, particularly with an audience that knows nothing about science. You might want to try, though, rolling back a couple of pages, and talking about the entire moon, and doing the man in the moon, the woman and the rabbit in the moon, and talking about the general features (Maria and highlands) that make up those features, then zeroing in on specific sites. Then you can bring them closer and closer, revealing more an more detail as you progress.
