Effects of dew on Baader Solar Film.

Morning all,

So as many probably have, I've got the small hole on the 200p dust cap made into a solar filter using the Baader Film. Now i was out last night and as normal it was really quite dewwy, and got me thinking, is the dew going to be having bad effects on the film? Or should i get a replacement cap. One for just the film and one for using on the scope as i transport it during the night. Just be a bad thing to find out when i go to view the Sun and the films knackered.

Not sure about the dews effect.. however, you should be checking it up against a light source (not the Sun! ) before every use anyway..

Oh yeah I do that . Just wondered about fundermental damage to the film itself

I believe the film is aluminised, if so the effect of dew will be similar to that of the primary mirror, ie no immediate problem but eventually will need replacing. Best to keep it covered when not in use or in transit.
