Do my Eyepieces need to cool down too?

ok, silly question alert!!..

Just wondered.. do i leave my eyepieces out with the scope to cool down for a bit or take them out when i observe?

No - I'd keep them a little warmer than the scope. If they get really cold you will find they fog up as you use them from the heat from your eye.

Keep them in your coat/jacket pocket with the dust caps on til you want to use them. They may mist up quickly when you use them, depending on the weather.

A quick wipe with a lint free cloth (opticians cloth etc) will clear them........................just make sure there is no grit or dirt on them first.

I like to use one eyepiece whilst keeping another ready in my pocket - then when I swop eyepieces - the used one goes back in the box and another "next one" goes into my pocket. Keep the box lid shut so you don't get don't get it cold or dewed up. If you use a single eyepiece for a long while it may benefit from a heated dew band. Protect the lenses with a cap whenever not in use.
