turning a straight through finder in a right angled finder?

It is possible but by the time you have bought the parts needed - mirror and holder etc it is probably cheaper to buy one. If you do have the necessary bits and pieces you will have to shorten the tube and find a way of attaching the diagonal holder etc as you will have to cut away the thread provided. Also the cut will have to be at exactly the right place as the focussing adjustment (the main lens screws in and out) is limited to about 2-3mm.

Yes, having made straight through and RA finders from binocular objectives I can confirm that it's really quite tricky to get the length of the tube right when you add the diagonal (and I had loads of tube to play with). I'd say it would be a world less pain to sell the straight through finder and buy a ready-made one.
