Celestron - But what model?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I have borrowed a scope from our local Astronomy Club, and following removal of Dust, would like to know a bit more about it.

It is Celestron and has TS2S on it in Dymo Tape, Celestrron Ultima DC Servo Quartz Drive.

It is an 8" Schmidt–Cassegrain

I have posted pictures in my Gallery under Celestron.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

James

I recall seeing adverts for these in Sky and Telescope magazine back in the 90's prior to the launch of the Ultima 2000 and Nexstar series. If I remember it is the classic Celestron C8 OTA (F/10) with the older Celestron starbright optical coatings, mounted on a heavy duty fork mount (i think Periodic error correction was added to this model at some point during its production lifetime, though may have been a later addition and not a day one feature).

I may be wrong but I also recall reading that the Ultima line was first introduced in 1989.
