Edge of field of view quality

If the criterion for choosing an eyepiece is edge of field of view quality regardless of how wide the field of view is, what would be the least expensive choices? A wider field of view would of course be a better choice, but only if the edge of view is without distortions and if price is not considerably higher.

Probably a Circle-T orthoscopic. 40deg AFOV and corrected down to at least f5.

Tele Vue have a motto "show no field unless it's sharp". Sounds like you are after something similar but at the lowest cost. At F/5 the orthoscopics mentioned by Keith above are probably the lowest cost eyepieces that will be sharp right across the field of view.

I find Orthoscopics a little uncomfortable to use because of their short eye relief.

The 25mm and 18mm Orthos have quite comfortable eye relief.

I'd say anything from a 12.5mm ortho upwards or a 15mm Plossl upwards. I choose BGO and TV (generally used for about £50 each). They are superb.
