HeQ5 tripod question

Hi,

Does the legs on the heq5, need to fully extended? Being some one of a shorter stature, I have found it easier not to do so, at least without using some kind of steps to reach the eyepieces in certain positions.

Is there any disadvantage in not having the legs fully extended?

It's a slightly bigger chance it might tip over, so just make sure you feel the whole rig stands securely (and wont tip easy if you bump into it). Otherwise youre cool, especially if your scope is lighter.

With legs at lowest, your outfit should be more stable, as above, just be careful not to knock it over

Depends what you're using. A Newt is ok with no extension, just enough to level. A refractor will either need extending (legs) or an extension pillar, to save grovelling about on the ground.
