Zakalwe
M31...its like the Orion Nebula. Everyone has to have a go at it!This is 90 minutes of 6 minute subs, with 30 minutes of 2 minute subs layered into the core.Stacked in DSS, processed in PS.Equinox 80 with TRF2008 flattener and QHY8L camera. Its a bit noisy, and it needs more subs. But it is the first DSO image that I have taken in about 5 months (gotta hate living in Lancashire under what seems to be a permanent cloud blanket!) Roy@Aldermaston
That doesn't look over-exposed or particularly noisy, in fact I'd be really pleased with it. Love the star colours.

Zakalwe
Thank you. I'm pleased with how it turned out. Now as long as I don't have to wait months before I can have another shot at it!

Zakalwe
Very nice indeed We've had almost perpetual nighttime cloud cover down here too! Thanks Earl. The TRF that I got from you seems to have worked well. I noticed that the compression ring on the Moonlite catches the undercut on it, which causes it to tilt slightly. My solution was to chuck the brass compression ring in the bin and pull the TRF out a fraction to allow the screws to clamp firmly on the undercut. Zakalwe
The temptation to fiddle is hard to resist.Ive created three false Luminance layers and blended them in. Seems to have lifted some detail in the outer arms?
