solarandi
Hi AllAfter a quick naked eye look the other night, I noticed that Saturn appears to have been in the same area of sky for some time. Am I right, or am I losing the plot??. Cheers Andi.
FarSide
I believe it's currently in Virgo, it has been for the best part of the summer. Mars is also in Virgo at the moment.
TheNorthernMonkey
Saturn takes 29 years to orbit the sun. It doesnt move very quickly accross the sky
paul schofield
Saturn will be there quite a while longer too. I like it there as its perfectly placed for my back garden in the early hours. Saturn has only completed 1 & a 3rd orbits of the sun since I have been alive, I'm 42 (almost) clear skies.
Stu
I started properly observing with my first scope around the beginning of the century. How weird does that sound, anyway, in Jan 2000. At that time, Jupiter and Saturn were very close together in Taurus, quite near M45. It's amazing to watch the changes over the years.Stu
Stephen
Saturn was in retrograde motion up until June 25th (since some time in Feb) I think, since then it's resumed normal motion.
