Compression Adapter for SCT Diagonal to Allow Rotation

Does anyone know if there is a compression adapter I can get that will allow me to rotate my SCT diagonal without partially unscrewing from the back of the OTA? When using my equatorial mount, the eyepiece quite often ends up in awkward positions. The 2" diagonal I bought screws straight onto the back of my SCT. It's nothing major, just a bit inconvenient and annoying.

I think you may be after a 2" visual back. They allow you to use standard 2" push fit diagonal rather than SCT diagonal.

Thanks guys, would any of these be of use with an existing screw fit SCT diagonal? The ones shown in the links look to be suitable for push fit diagonals. I would like to keep my diagonal if possible.

I don't know any similar device for SCT threaded diagonal, but there is a work around.

You can get this Baader 47mm click lock extension tube. The extension tube is actually made of a 2" push fit - SCT nose piece adapter and a SCT - 2" click lock clamp. You can disassemble the extension tube, fit the SCT-2" click lock to your SCT. Then you can thread the 2"-SCT nose piece to your SCT diagonal, effectively converting your SCT diagonal to a 2" push fit diagonal.

Thanks, sounds possible. I've never used the click lock system, can this connect straight onto the thread of the SCT and then allow the diagonal to rotate?

The click lock clamp acts as a SCT visual back.

Here are some pic to illustrate

1. You have the clicklock extension and your SCT diagonal. (since I don't actually have a SCT diagonal, the SCT male-Borg M57 adapter + 2" diagonal is used to represent one)

2,3 Un-thread the nose piece to review the 2" - SCT nose piece and the SCT-2" visual back

4. Thread the visual back to the SCT

5, 6. Thread the 2"-SCT nose piece to the diagonal

7,8,9 Insert diagonal into visual back. Rotate as required. The weight of the diagonal is still supported by your hand at this point.

10. Twist the clicklock clamp to lock the diagonal.
