Synguider DC polarity

Recommended Posts

I have a 9v AC7DC 800mA Adaptor that is tip positive.

Can I just cut the wires and connect positive to negative etc to reverse the polarity ?

THe synguider socket is tip negative.

Regards,

Simon

Yes you can do it that way, by cutting the wires a few inches from the connector and re-joining the opposite ends.

You can also buy and adapter to the change the tips polarity.

Tip/centre negative does seem fairly rare these days.

If you're going to re-wire it backwards though, the neat way to do it is to cut each wire in a different place, feed a piece of heatshrink over each wire and one over the entire thing. Then solder them together, cover the individual joins with with the first pieces of heatshrink and then cover the entire join with the second piece.
