Baadar Astrosolar film question.

I've made myself a solar filter using the baadar astrosolar A4 ND 5.0 film but while making a smaller filter for my finderscope a clear layer came off the film. Is this a protective layer that needs removing before mounting the film or is it actually part of the film? Having already made my main filter I'm wondering if there is a clear film that should have been removed?

sorry to say, I fell for that one too. it should not be part of the filter and really affects the quality of views unfortunately.

Thanks Shane. Sheesh! Thats the last time I make a DIY filter!! It was only because the ready made filters were out of stock that I decided to do this! I've plenty more film left to use but I'm blumming annoyed!! Why does it not mention this in the instructions!?!?.

it is well annoying. the filter material is actually pretty tough and I managed to carefully cut the rings and then redo it from the same piece. it's worth doing for sure, especially if imaging.

Phew! Salvaged the situation by pricking a fold with a pin which allowed me to peel off the plastic without having to re-mount the filter! Happy days!

It is/was mentioned in the instruction sheet that came with my Baader film.......
