Low power wide angle for a skyliner 200p

Recommended Posts

so i kind of impulse bought a skyliner 200p the other day and now i have 'proper' scope i need some decent eyepieces to compliment it.

i have a William optics 7.5-22.5 zoom which will do for now but i want a good quality low power wide angle eyepiece for wide field views.

so with a focal length of 1200mm a 30mm or 32mm would be ideal?

any recommendations?

budget i guess is in the region of £150 max although im eager to keep costs as low as possible.

Personally I prefer the view through a 32mm plossl over a 40mm one, assuming we are talking about the 1.25" eyepiece size here. The 32mm shows as much sky and darkens the background sky a bit which helps deep sky objects stand out a little better.

I've read a lot of good things about the Panaview but I'm still hoping to get a 31mm Baader Hyperion Aspheric to add to my collection :hello2:

I use the Hyperion 31mm and it is a great eyepiece. At the outer edge there's a slight mushiness but it doesn't detract from the great view.

Personally ,I wouldn't go overboard spending vast cash on 32mm/40mm EP. You'll find that it's seeing conditions that'll dominate the view. Seeing a wide view makes me reach for the 21mm and then the 12mm to see what's there!

Nick.
