I notice the following has been posted on the Stellarium Wiki

"The Stellarium Mobile port currently on Google Play is unrelated, and currently copyright infringing (no sources have been posted, contrary to Stellarium's license), and is using the name without permission....."

The Wiki also goes on to state:

"The Android port........ will not cost anything when it eventually makes it onto Google Play and elsewhere.

Looks like the current available version on Google Play is not "official" and we should eventually get a free version of Stellarium for Android....

I use Google Sky on my Galaxy Ace. I find it invaluable.

Google Skymap is mature and great for casual use. It has red screen mode like Stellarium and is really handy if you don't feel like lugging a laptop out with you.

I find Google sky map to be an excellent app, it is free and works properly on my Android phone. Is Stellarium better? I did install it on my mac but I wasn't gonna take the mac outside. Just at a glance they seem very similar.

Lets be realistic.....

The Android app currently out there isn't genuine, and is very POOR!

It doesn't work on the MAJORITY of Android stuff.

Wait for the 'real' Android app (if ever!) or stick to your computer.
