Venus up in the blue.... beautiful

Testing out my ALT/AZ setting circles today, dialled in Venus and there she was 8)

Took an image with my 130mm F5 Newt with Nikon D40 prime focus.

Waited for some cloud to roll in for a bit of artistic thingy

Really artistic Phil I just showed this to my friend and asked "what do u think this is? " . The answer, of course was, "the moon" Looks very extraordinary

I just looked on Stellarium for Venus and it shows it very near the sun. So out I go into the garden and stand close enough to the house so that the sun is just behind the corner of the wall and cant see Venus.... So how did you capture it?

That bit of white puffy cloud adds very nicely to the composition, and Venus does indeed look like a mini Moon

This one is Venus cropped from the picture but at 100%.

Very usefull scale from the 130 F5/D40 setup...

So how did you capture it?

It was where my software said it would be and it stood out very well against

the blue sky in the D40 viewfinder...

Check your software settings re time/date etc..

Be very carefull with the sun though

No, not at all...very unlikely in daylight

I now do not feel so silly leaning out of my bedroom window scratching my head while looking back and for between stellarium and the sky

I am so annoyed at how clear the sky is now and will be tonight when I have to work the ight shift :x GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR!
