Autoguiding software and other questions

Hi All,

Having a nightmare with programs that wont run in windows 7, so first question is what autoguiding software will run in 7

second question does the camera have to have a long exposure mod.

Kev, PHD is one of the most popular guiding software applications. I have it running completely fine with windows 7.

What camera are you using for guiding ?

The AstroArt 5 demo has a guiding routine that is Win7 compatible, so is PHD

You're best with your guiding cam to have an exposure of 2 to 4 seconds ideally, then your not chasing seeing when guiding.

Im not using guiding at all, I just fitted the eqmod to my eq3-2 handset and am about to "play" with cameras/software the guide dog software that is mentioned on the shoestring astronomy website doesnt work in windows 7, Only cam I got at the moment is a phillips spc880 modded to 900 but not LX.

Might have a look at a QHY5

I used an SPC900 and PHD on Win 7 when I started guiding - it works OK. Upgraded to a QHY5 after a while - the extra camera sensitivity made a huge difference!
