Wavelet processing for Ha

Hello again.

I thought I'd try adding a 2x barlow lens to the QHY5 nosepiece and get up close and personal with our sun.

However, the temptation to over do the wavelet processing is hard to resist. So, do any of you more experienced imagers have any tips on when to say stop?

This picture is a slice through a whole disk image which looked way over processed, but when it is sliced it doesn't look quite so bad.

Many thanks,

Jamie

You have an excellent image!

Do you have Photoshop Elements or the full version?

If you do, try using the smart sharpen option or small amounts of unsharp mask many times (do not use the wavelets in Registax at all, use the raw stacked image). Keep going until you see noise appearing or nasty dark ringing appear (make sure it looks natural), then back off a little. You will find you get far more detail in your picture this way.
