webcam help on planets

Last night i tried to capture mars with the webcam (spc900)

all i could get was a small white blob, i am ok at lunar captures, but could do with some advice on getting planets right, i am happy that i could keep mars tracked, im using craterlet capture software then registax 5, best if i add a processed pic to show what it looked like, at least give you all a good laugh

I suspect that your exposure and gain is over exposing. Turn it down until its faint and then increase til you get details but not burnt out. Youre also going to need a barlow of some kind.

What was the rest of the setup (telescope / barlow) ?

I think Kev is right. Gamma might be too high, too. Did you save the settings you used?

Peter: i used my Tal100rs, with x2 barlow, to be honest i was very pleased to get the image on the screen and track it, i would like to get things right in preparation for saturn
