My first ever images, taken on a SW130p and the Xbox Vision Webcam that has been modded (as per guides elsewhere on the forum).

I'm quite happy with the moon but what went wrong with Jupiter? Was it just the seeing (it was a strange night last night)?

Any feedback (especially how to improve!) is greatly appreciated!

moon looks good, im not much into the ap part.. but i will enjoy looking at your pix as i am getting back into the hobby and am checking everything out..

Thanks, I don't think I'll be out again for a couple of weeks, but desperate to try and get a better Jupiter.

I'm wondering whether my Jupiter was just like that because of turbulent weather, or is that as likely as I'm ever to get it on a 130p and a little webcam?

I would love to give imaging a go with the filters and things, but one step at a time.

I'm assuming that the Jupiter is a small crop from the middle of the frame ? There's several possibilities... apart from starting out really small, therefore not enough sensor coverage to get much detail, you have to push up the focal length to improve that, which makes focus (another possibility) much harder to get right. It also looks like it might be a bit dark which makes it harder in processing.

Thanks John, will do that in the future. Clear skies tonight, so once the ironing is done (!) I'll be out and trying to get Jupiter again.

Well done! I think jupiter is hard to get because its highly dependant on the weather and the seeing, if its bad, you know about it.

Ive only ever imaged jupiter once, and found it quite tricky to get good results

Your moon images have some really nice contrast on! Good job!

Those are great images of the moon. I for some reason always struggle to get good lunar images and often go OTT processing and ruin the ones I do get.

Looking back, there might be no colour in Jupiter because I turned the saturation right down. Hoping to get another chance to look at this tonight.
