I need help!

I am looking for advice on how to calculate the movement of the stars back 3000 years ago on various dates. Is this an impossible task, or are there websites, books, anything that can help me do this?

Starry night will show you what the constellations looked like three thousand years ago.

I think manually working it out would be a bit of a mission as each star has it's own proper motion...

In starrynight, just change the year to whatever you want (remembering to alter the AD to BC). If you frame the constellation your interested in and then click on the year, you can use the up and down buttons on the keyboard to fly through the years and see that changes as they happen!

Starry Night is also available in Beginner, Backyard, Pro and Pro Plus versions.

You might able to the same thing in Stellarium (free)
