Flaming Star Nebula

[Looking Up]

This is an image I did a couple of weeks ago, just got round to processing it. This is 60 x 180 sec, iso 800, 300mm 2.8 old fd lens. Stacked in DSS & processed in PI, darks and flats subtracted. Reasonably pleased with it, stars are a bit odd, but oh well!

There are a serious amount of stars in there. That lens at F2.8 is impressive.

The stars don't look too odd to me. The target is difficult simply because there are SO many of them and they tend to dominate. This isn't your fault!!!

Thanks for the comments, I'll have to make more use of the star mask in PI to tame them down a bit!

Look up Harrys astro videos in PI. He has an example on how to use a starmassk to tame down the stars. They look ok, maybe some small diagonal trailing.

That area is like looking down the throat of the milky way.

Beautiful image. I recently managed to spot the nebula with my C8, so I know how faint it is, and how difficult to spot within the rich star field. Having seen the area, I do not mind the stars as they are.

Looks pretty good Spencer it is a dim target as other say in a very rich area. I think you have done a good job with the reflection part showing well.
