meade 5000 / bst's ...?

i was on the verge of getting a bst explorer for my 90mm refractor,probably the 18mm. but reading through some threads ,im wondering if for the extra £8 ,the meade 5000 would be worth it.

both have good feedback. with the meade's just edging it for the most part.

i thought the 5000's were more expensive than £49.00, i thought they were more in the x-cel lx price range.

any thoughts,thankyou.

The Meades are on offer as the new HDs are coming out. Many places are sold out at this price. I just got the 14mm, but haven't had a chance to try it yet.

I have the bst 18mm and its early days but looking like a real keeper

thanks . im going with the bst explorer 12mm. i think the meades at that price are mostly sold out anyway .

Hi Rory, you won't regret getting the BST Explorers, though Alan's new stock is called 'Starguider', I believe he is seeking to change them. The 12mm and 18mm are both cracking eyepieces.

thanks for the info. im leaning toward a 12mm,which will give me about x83 and x166 barlowed. which is a realistic maximum for my scope.
