Steve, was a blinder last night. Thanks for sharing the spot. M3, M51, Orion Neb, Leo Trio, Saturn and many more ...... it may not have been perfect seeing but it was still the best night of observing I've ever had!

I got home in 50 minutes. Hope you had good run too.

Here's the link to the .kmz file for the Light Pollution Layer in Google Earth:

Make sure you have installed the latest version of Google Earth first (I'm pretty sure this is what you'll have on your iPad), then scroll down the avex-asso page noted above, until you see a link for: "<<Colour Scale>> light pollution map (KMZ file)"

Click it. Download it. Run it.

It should become visible in your google earth as an additional layer so you can easily search for Dark Sky Spots around the UK.

Not sure I'll get much time for dark sky nights in the next few months but will keep in touch.
