The start of a project

As part of an assignment for University I've decided to try to image, and observe, as many of the Caldwell objects as I can.

I started tonight on Caldwell 1 (I know, original eh :)).

Here it is NGC188, an open cluster in Cephus. Its not well placed for me as I have to look over houses to see it and the light pollution isn't good that way.

Its 9 x 150s subs, binned 2x2, with an ATIK383 mono on Megrez90 with 0.8FR. Guided with an ATIK16ic on a C8. Stacked with darks and flats (very necessary!) in DSS and a quick boost with levels and curves in CS2.

Every journey starts with a first step Helen.

Your project is underway, and knowing you, your Welsh tenacity will ensure you succeed.

No 1 is a fine start, not unlike M11, the Wild Duck cluster, a bit fainter, but a cluster in a busy star field just the same.

So, onward towards the next targets :).

Ron.
