MAK 127 best EP for alignment

MAK 127 users - what EP do you use for alignment?

for my mak 100 I use a combination of 24mm hyperion as a finder and a 6mm TS Planetary for precise alignment. I wouldn't use a different combination in a different goto scope - I think what I am doing is fairly universal. What are you using?

That's a good combo you have there - my MAK wouldn't be much use with a 6mm EP though! I am using the original 25mm at the moment but thinking of a Hypo'n at both ends of the scale, which would be 10mm and 24mm for me I guess. Or a 25/60 BST or 32/52 plossl for a cheaper alignment tool making the 10mm Hypo'n more affordable....

If you get the fine tuning rings with the 10mm you will have the choice of some higher focal lengths when you want them. With both FTRs in place you would have something like a good 6mm 60 degree EP for next to no money. If I had your scope I would definitely have a use for a 6mm EP...

You sure? ........ I use a 6 mil BGO in my MAK, it's one of my fav ep's for planetary, had some lovely views of Saturn & Jup with it (seeing permitting), and is perfect for fine tuning your alignment

Bought a 40mm for the initial then use something like 12-15 for the more accurate.

Not a Mak user, but the 32mm Plossl is good to start with, then I use a 12.5mm illuminated reticle eyepiece (the Sky Watcher).

I picked up an SR4 ep for the price of a SaN mag (many would say it is not even worth that!) And the high mag and small FOV of this ep should make it a brilliant alignment EP. I haven't had a chance to try it in that role yet but it did give a good view of Mars last month... :-)

Another trick is to defocus the alignment star - it is easier to center a large disc than a small point.

Usually the stock 25mm ep that came with the scope for me.
