In reference to the ease of viewing, it really depends on seeing conditions. Even with an apparent clear sky the seeing can vary from excellent to awful. This May i had a super clear evening and observed ngcs 4631,4656/57,4244,4214,4111,4490,4111,4490,4449,5005 and 5033 in Canes venatici.There's plenty time yet!!

I'd put M106 on par with the brightest of these at mag. 9.1.

In saw M106 last night with my Dob in what was poor seeing conditions - M1 was barely visible with averted vision, it was that bad! :icon_salut: I could see M106 as a kind of long streak with a slightly brighter centre, but not much else, in my 30mm Aero EP. Didn't think of using greater magnification, so will give that a go next time! :p
