December 10th Lunar Eclipse!

I managed to a couple pictures of the Lunar Eclipse this morning! These images are taken with a Sony A300K. Thanks for looking!

I was up at 6am much as usual - the moon was setting behind the trees. Saw a bit of the moon through the branches but didn't know about an eclipse.

Here is the moon tonight from Hong Kong, not mine I must add but from HKBhoy on another forum I use.

Starts out as a bog-standard full moon.

The earth's shadow begins to drift over the moon's surface, leaving large areas in darkness.

Longer exposure shows the darkened area more clearly, with rest of moon over-exposed.

The earth is completely between the sun and the moon now, so the whole thing should be in darkness, but enough light is refracted around the earth to bathe the moon in copper-coloured light.

Nice pics, spent late afternoon outside ready and the clouds cleared just in time to seen the moon rise over the horizon. No pics though.
